Coura Niang

Professor, Child and Youth Care Practitioner, Board Certified Behaviour Analyst Advocate

Coura Niang is on a mission to create an inclusive environment where children and youth feel heard, supported and unafraid to express themselves freely. She achieves this by empowering them to develop the courage to ask for what they need, and to remind the adults around them tha

“I am inspired to be, and create and see that others achieve their emotional and spiritual health.”

Committed to the manifesto that no one be left behind, Niang has dedicated her life to helping children and families. Her expertise is in working with learners and their parents who are living with Autism, Mood Disorders and Learning Disabilities. Her personal practice, Kidswork, provides a range of services, which focus on the individual, family and community and strives to help build a sustainable future for families. Ensuring the growth and development for each child with a mental health issue occurs in a positive, supportive, and collaborative environment.

With a focus on impacting the way the education system functions, Niang’s diverse experience in these environments has been invaluable. Niang began her career as an instructor therapist at the Etobicoke Children’s Centre doing intensive behavioural interventions with children with autism. From there she moved on to the Geneva Centre for Autism as their lead respite facilitator, where Niang led an after school respite program so successful, that funding for the program tripled within the first year. Since then she has gained extensive experience working within the public school board, assuming almost every role a frontline child and youth worker could within the first three years of being employed.

Niang began her educational journey at Centennial college where she earned her diploma in Child and Youth Care.
